"Olivia"
Mastiff Female, 1 Year Old, Black

"Olivia" is a gorgeous Mastiff female, just one year old. She has a stunning jet black coat with a white spot on her chest, a little white on her toes, and natural ears and tail. Olivia's head type and temperament make us think Cane Corso, but her body is tall and leggy - perhaps a Neapolitan Mastiff in there somewhere.
Olivia has been thru three homes already in under a year before coming into our rescue as no-one was willing to put the time and training into teaching her basic manners. She has had no training, and arrived underfed and thin. On a positive note, she is healthy and happy girl - nothing wrong with her that some good food won't fix right up. She is spayed, heartworm negative, up to date on all vaccinations and worming, young, healthy, and beautiful! She doesn't have any health, or temperament issues, and is a wonderful and loving companion just waiting for a home and family to call her own. She does have natural protective / guarding instincts, and will alert and bark at strangers approaching her yard, but she is not aggressive. She is very friendly, trusting, and sweet, and meets new people with ease. Olivia does great meeting adults, strangers, men and women, kids, and interacting with children. She is dog-friendly with all dogs - large and toy breed, male, female, altered or intact, dominant or submissive. Her attitude toward other dogs is mainly indifference - she prefers to focus on people interaction. She has never displayed any dog aggression, or even any dog dominance... just indifference really.
Olivia is very praise motivated. She wants nothing more than to make her people happy and to know that you are pleased with her. In the time she has been here she is already putting on some weight, she has learned to be crate trained (though we will not crate for restriction, we do want every dog to be accepting of being crated), has learning not to jump on people, is learning to walk without pulling on a leash (we do not use prong or choke collar correction), already knows sit, and is working on down. She is very friendly with all people - adults, strangers, men, women, and children. She doesn't realize her size with kids, and should be watched due to her over-enthusiasm till she learns a little more. She rides well in cars with no problems, no motion-sickness, and no destructive tendencies.
The biggest drawbacks to this girl are simply her enthusiasm and excitement - she is a big puppy and was never taught respect for personal space. She is a very fast learner though. She loves to be in the house with you, and is perfectly content to hang out in the yard all day long as well. She does not take well to being kenneled away from the house, and will promptly set about pushing her way thru a chain link kennel. She has a slight bit of separation anxiety - understandable after going thru three homes in the past three months. Nothing that should not resolve on being accepted and settling into a new home of her own. If she is in the yard when you are home, she is happy to hang out all day. If you leave, she will want to follow you. For now, if we leave while she is here, we crate her in the house while we are gone to make sure there is no unplanned escape down the road behind us. She is perfectly mannered in the crate.
Olivia is a gorgeous girl, very well built, nice conformation and a beautiful head. She has natural ears and tail, but carries them well - she is a striking dog. At just a year old she is just finishing her puppy stage and has her whole life ahead of her. She is happy, energetic, very active, and will bond quickly to a new family. She is already 'guarding' our yard when someone approaches the gate. Unlike many dogs who come in thru rescue with health and temperament issues, Olivia simply needs some training and a home to call her own. If you think Olivia might be the perfect dog for your family, please complete our application and contact us for additional information on her.

"Spot"
Dalmatian, DEAF Male, 1.5 years, Long-Coat, Black and White Spotted

ADOPTED!
Congratulations Michaela, NM
"Spot" is a long coated Dalmatian - a not commonly seen coat variation caused by recessive genes. Spot is a drop-dead-gorgeous guy with a body covered in striking spots, jet black ears, and a solid white tail. He is a neutered male with a unique look all his own - this is one guy you won't have to look twice for at the dog park! A nice mid-size dog, he weighs 45 lbs at 1.5 years old - large enough to be a well built dog, but small enough he is easy to take along with you. Spot is Deaf. He can not hear, but is very attentive to hand signals and will constantly watch "his person" and will quickly respond to hand signals and motion. He will be placed in a carefully screened home that is willing to understand and work with his special needs.
Fun and outgoing, Spot is very friendly and has a stable balanced personality He is well socialized and gets along well with both large and small dogs. He leans toward a bit of an alpha personality when interacting with other dogs, but easily meets and joins in for play with no problem. He will meet and watch a cat alertly and express interest in them, but does not chase them. Kids are great fun, and adults are accepted easily. Outgoing, fun-loving, and loves to romp and play! Very social, he gets along with everyone. Learns quickly and is eager to please. Spot LOVES car rides and taking in the scenery with his head out the window! Already neutered, brought current on all vaccinations and worming, micro chipped, healthy, happy, leash trained, and ready to go home!
